Occupational Therapy helps you with the doing of living your life.
Occupational Therapy helps you with the doing of living your life.
Welcome! As a licensed, board-certified Occupational Therapist, I'm passionate about helping people live a meaningful life.
I provide in-home and teletherapy services for anxiety, depression, addiction, autism, and hoarding for young adults and adults. Serving Cave Creek, Arizona, and the surrounding area.
When we shift away from mental health, our daily tasks can feel overwhelming, daunting, or too much for us to manage alone.
Occupational Therapy can help you get on your feet and onto living an independent life again. Together, we work on developing and using healthy coping skills to regain balance and confidence. I collaborate with you to establish sustainable changes and well-being.
Dr. Sankey is compassionate, caring, and supportive. She is culturally sensitive and uses a trauma-sensitive approach while working with her clients. She collaborates using a client-centered and strengths-based approach to identify meaningful goals with her clients.
Dr. Sankey doesn't tell you what to do - she shows you how to do it and walks with you through the process to help you be successful.
When you're ready, I'm here to help you.
Typically someone struggling with a disorganized home or hoarding doesn't seek help until the process is too overwhelming, the home becomes unsafe, the family is called to intervene, or a possible eviction notice is presented. Hoarding can lead to increased health risks, social isolation, and decreased quality of life.
Having a strong emotional attachment to items can cause a lot of distress to an individual when their things are moved out of sight or thrown away.
It's important to have a skilled professional to help the person through the process. Don't wait for things to be out of control before seeking help for your loved one.
Dr. Sankey is an experienced occupational therapist who can help your loved one through this process.
Dr. Sankey is a skilled Occupational Therapist who is empathetic and motivating to help you reach your goals. She uses a neurodiversity-affirmative (non-ABA) and a strengths-based approach to help you, be you.
Navigating a neurotypical world is challenging when you're trying to learn about yourself too. OT helps you learn more about yourself and your needs. Get started with someone who helps you with the goals you want to reach and skills you want to build.
This includes: learning how to add new activities to your routine, supporting social connection, developing tools for when your emotions feel overwhelming, understanding autistic burnout, family support and education, and more.
Are you sick of feeling like there is no end to the relapse-treatment cycle?
You already know first hand how addiction disrupted your life. Now that you've left treatment or been sober for a while you might feel stressed and worried about all of the things you need to take care of while you put your life back together. You might not know where to even start.
OT is an evidence-based, non-pharmacological profession focused on helping you learn and implement strategies to effectively cope with emotions. OT helps you with the "doing" of living your life by teaching you how to budget, meal plan, find healthy hobbies, and create sustainable habits and routines in sobriety. OT helps you put the pieces back together so you can be a successful adult, parent, friend, and employee.
Sometimes we feel like we have a lot of energy and can go, go, go, until we start feeling impulsive, start engaging in risky situations, or spending uncontrollably. Other times we feel so low that getting out of bed to shower is a multi-day effort. Then there are times where we have a combination of energy and crashing into lows. This makes working and participating in life challenging.
OT facilitates self-regulation skills to better manage impulses and changing emotions. We support medication management skills, healthy habits and routines, and self-advocacy skills so you can start living a balanced life.
Anxiety can creep into any situation with negative thoughts, physical symptoms, or a full blown panic attack. It appears at the worst time when you're in the middle of a test, about to leave to hangout with friends, or during a work presentation.
OT teaches you simple, easy to use coping skills, self-regulation strategies, and sensory-based techniques to help you stay engaged in activities and be successful. We work on organizational skills and time management so you can feel confident.
Depression can feel like you're drowning in emotions or so empty and numb that there's little to no interest or joy left. We put on a smile so no one asks us questions all while we feel empty, sad, and lost. The effort it takes to get out of bed, shower, and get to work on time drains what little energy we had left.
OT helps you with small, simple strategies to conserve energy, manage medications, and complete daily tasks. We teach healthy communication and advocacy skills to help you express your needs even when we feel like a burden to others.

We help you live your life.
All aspects of it. All occupations.
What's an occupation? So glad you asked. Everything that occupies your time throughout the day that you need to do, want to do, or must do is considered an occupation.
I help you learn how to shop within a budget, organize your home, learn healthy strategies to reduce anger outbursts, how to keep a schedule and set doctors appointments, how to create a routine to reduce burnout, and many other things.
When you're stressed out and feeling stuck, OT is there to help you. We walk beside you to provide support, education, and encouragement. It's more than talking, it's about doing too.
Occupational Therapy helps you with the doing of living your life. We transform talking into action.
"The aspect of my life that has changed the most as a result of OT is finding balance. OT helped me round out all the areas of my life in order to maintain a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. That includes healthy eating, budgeting, positive outlets for fun and many other things." - Andrew, former client
"So much of treatment is life history, emotional regulation and feelings. Treatment gives you a better understanding of how the addict got to be the way they are today. However, there's not a ton of practical application instruction that comes with it. You have all of this self-knowledge which is great, just no plan for moving forward. That's where OT has come into play for me. It gives me the skills to use all the intel I acquired while I was in treatment and practically apply it to my daily life. That's where I have fallen short in the past. I'm very grateful for OT because of this. Probably my biggest takeaway." - George, former client
"I’ve benefited in many ways but probably the most beneficial was going over the fundamentals. Everything we went over was very applicable to reality of my life and could actually make a difference in the very next day. Also, we worked on emotional awareness and stability, which I still carry that information learned to this day." - Paul, former client
